New Year’s Resolution #1

TAKE MORE PHOTOS OF MY KIDS!!

I am embarrassed to say that I didn’t take many photos of my kids in 2008.  Luckily, Barbie invited me and my daughter, Aleah, to a downtown Nashville photo shoot today with her and her daughter.  So now I have a good start on photographing at least Aleah in 2009.  Even though it was cold and damp this morning, we had a blast photographing our girls!

Here are a few of Aleah.  I will post some of Barbie’s daughter once I get the entire session edited.

New Baby in the New Year

There is nothing better or more fun than to welcome in the New Year with a new baby! (Not mine, of course - LOL)

Giving Is Awesome x 2

December 24th, 2008 ~  Uncategorized

This year, I am participating in the Giving is Awesome project. (See the below post about this wonderful program.) I received several powerful and beautiful stories of truly inspiring and deserving people that have been or are going through a season of life I can only imagine, and so choosing a single family for this gift was incredibly difficult. I couldn’t choose just one. So I’m gifting two Giving is Awesome sessions. (And even that was hard.) I am in the process of contacting the families and letting them know of their nominations, so I hate to publish their names and stories until I run it by them. Thank you everyone for your time and thoughtfulness in nominating someone for this program.

Merry Christmas!

‘Tis the Season for Giving

December 5th, 2008 ~  Uncategorized

A photography friend, Kristin Kalp, came up with this idea about giving back and challenged me to join her and other photographers across the nation and some international places.  I think that I’m up to the challenge.

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography.  The winner will receive a custom portrait session, a coffee table session album and a 20×24 wall portrait.  It’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $200 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-home vacation home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

The nominee must reside in Nashville, Brentwood or Franklin. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

Comment on this blog entry to let me know you’ve entered, and e-mail me the full story: rebekahpope@comcast.net.

The deadline for entries is December 22nd. The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve…get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season – and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

If your nominee doesn’t live in the Nashville area, check out the participating photographers at Giving is Awesome.

The Girls

November 28th, 2008 ~  Uncategorized

Today, I had a family session as everyone was in town for the Thanksgiving holiday.  We were so lucky to have perfect weather for the session, not too cold and beautiful overcast light.  I just loved how this image of all the girls turned out that I had to share.
